40 High School Seniors to Receive Laptop Scholarship for Going Green
Winners quoted American Public Transportation Association, Jay Leno, and Robert Kennedy in speeches to peers motivating them to take public transit.

WHAT:                   Forty graduating high school seniors will be recognized for their award-winning speeches on “Reducing their carbon footprint with public transit.” Each student will be honored by MTS Board of Directors and awarded a new Dell laptop computer from Coca-Cola.”

WHERE:                MTS Headquarters at the Clock Tower patio

                            1255 Imperial Avenue, downtown San Diego 

WHEN:                  Thursday, May 28 starting at 11:30 a.m.

                               

WHY:                     Some of region’s brightest students will be available to share their green visions for the future of the planet. More than 250 students entered the contest from 65 high schools around San Diego County. Every part of San Diego County is represented by the winners.

MTS operates a 54.3-mile light rail transit network, 89 fixed bus routes, and ADA Complementary Public Paratransit Service in the San Diego region. In FY08 it set a system record by carrying more than 87 million passengers and MTS is poised to carry 92 million passengers this year.
