Annual Holiday Entertainment Series Brings Festive Air to Trolley Riders

Free mini-concerts will add holiday cheer to Orange Line Trolley riders’ commute and showcase the talents of local musicians.

San Diego, CA – The Seventh Annual Holiday Entertainment Series will treat passengers at select Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) Orange Line Trolley Stations to holiday music beginning Monday, Dec. 9, and feature a concert at the Market Creek Amphitheater Saturday, Dec. 21.

The holiday entertainment series is a joint effort by MTS, San Diego City Councilmember and MTS Board Member Myrtle Cole, the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation, and Coca-Cola, to bring holiday cheer to San Diegans. The free concerts will take place at the Euclid Avenue and Encanto/62nd Street Trolley Stations during peak commute times and feature performances by local artists.

The music at the Trolley Stations can be enjoyed the week of Dec. 9, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 6:30-8:30 a.m., and will highlight the talents of Lanee Battle, Bobby Simmons Group, and Eduardo Parra.

During the week of Dec. 16, riders will have more opportunities to hear their favorite holiday tunes as concerts will take place twice on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 6:30-8:30 a.m., and again 4:30-6:30 p.m. Performances will be provided by the Pizarro Brothers, Elliot Lawrence, Val Wilson, PGK Dance, Eduardo Parra, and Men 4 Christ. On Monday, Dec. 23, 4:30-6:30 p.m., the final performance will be provided by Prince Habib.

The concert takes place Saturday, Dec. 21, noon-4 p.m., at the Market Creek Amphitheater and is a free event. Artists performing at the concert include Mariachi Cielto Lindo, the Pizarro Brothers, the Bobby Simmons Group, and the Mada Children’s choir. MTS will be on hand providing free gift bags to the first 100 children, ages 12 and under. At the event, refreshments will be available for purchase.
