MTS Trolley Enhancing Service for KGB Sky Show XXXIX and Aztecs Homecoming Game on Sat. Nov. 8

Mobile ticketing option activated to speed up boarding process

San Diego, Calif. – The biggest fireworks show west of the Mississippi is taking place after the San Diego State Aztecs football homecoming game at Qualcomm Stadium on Nov. 8.

With 40,000 to 50,000 fans expected to attend, the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) has increased service and is encouraging fans taking the Trolley to travel early and purchase tickets on their smartphones to speed up the boarding process.

Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. and MTS will increase the frequency of trains on the Green Line to every 7.5 minutes beginning at 1:15 p.m. between SDSU and Qualcomm Stadium until kickoff. Beginning at 2 p.m., Green Line service between Old Town and Qualcomm Stadium will operate every 7.5 minutes until kickoff.

Following the Sky Show, fans can expect the following enhanced Trolley services:

• Green Line trains will run at a high frequency as needed after the Sky Show.

• Toward Santee: Once crowds diminish, Green Line trains will run every 15 minutes until 9:07 p.m. from Qualcomm Stadium toward Santee, then every 30 minutes until 10:37 p.m. (last train to Santee). Later trains will terminate at SDSU, and the last train departing from Qualcomm Stadium is at 12:07 a.m.

Toward Downtown San Diego: Once crowds diminish, Green Line trains will run every 15 minutes until 10:23 p.m. from Qualcomm Stadium toward Downtown San Diego, then every 30 minutes thereafter. The last train departs from Qualcomm Stadium toward Downtown San Diego at 12:38 a.m.

To avoid Trolley ticket lines and speed up the boarding process, passengers can purchase and store game-day Trolley passes right on their smart phones at any time prior to arriving at transit stations by using mTicket, MTS’s free mobile ticketing app. An additional bonus is that mTicket holders can by-pass Trolley lines after the game through the mTicket express lane on the west side of the ramp. Multiple mTickets can be purchased on one smart phone too, making it easy for families and friends traveling together. To download the app, visit www.sdmts.com/mTicket.asp. Fans can also find the app by search for “mTicket” in the App Store or on Google Play.
Trolley stations with the highest capacity for free parking available along the Green Line are as follows:

• Hazard Center Station: 1,500 free parking spots (lower level only)
• El Cajon Transit Center: 469 free parking spots
• Old Town Transit Center: 412 free parking spots
• Grantville Trolley Station: 404 free parking spots
