FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MTS Offers Enhanced Service to Chargers playoff game against Colts

Fans encouraged to arrive early and buy day passes

San Diego, CA – The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) will provide enhanced Trolley and Bus service on Saturday to Qualcomm Stadium for Chargers fans hoping for a win against the Indianapolis Colts. The game begins at 5:15 p.m. and fans are encouraged to travel early.

Extra Trolleys will run on the Green Line between Old Town and Qualcomm Stadium and between Grantville and the stadium starting 1:15 p.m. Also, MTS will operate longer trains throughout the Green Line.

After the game, the MTS will operate extra Green Line service in both directions as needed. Also Blue Line service from Old Town to San Ysidro will remain on 15-minute frequency until 9:15 p.m. from Old Town.

Due to the amount of riders expected for the events, those using the park & ride lots should arrive early and plan accordingly as parking at popular Trolley stations will fill faster than usual.

Passengers heading to Qualcomm can use the Green Line park & ride lots, which include Old Town, Morena, Hazard Center (lower level only), Grantville, Grossmont Center, Amaya Dr. (La Mesa), El Cajon Transit Center, Gillespie Field, and Santee Town Center. Passengers heading to Qualcomm can also transfer to the Green Line at Old Town (from the Blue Line) or Grossmont Center (from the Orange Line).

Customers are encouraged to buy day passes before boarding the Trolley on their way to their event in order to save time and avoid ticket lines. Regular round-trip day passes to Qualcomm are $5. Bus service is included in the day trip fare. Tickets may be purchased at each Trolley station ticket vending machines, the Transit Store or selected locations. A MTS day pass is good on the Trolley and most MTS bus routes, but is not valid on the Chargers Express Bus.
MTS Chargers Express buses will be operating from five locations.
The round trip fare is $10 in exact change. Buses begin boarding two hours before kick-off, with the final bus leaving 45 minutes before the game; post-game buses depart Qualcomm Stadium 20 minutes after the final whistle. The five Park and Ride locations are:
• Kearny Mesa Traffic Court (Clairemont Mesa Boulevard east of SR 163)
• Governor Drive & I-805 Park & Ride
• Spring Street Trolley Station
• Mira Mesa Park-and-Ride
• Chula Vista High School (820 Fourth Ave., Chula Vista)
