MTS Announces Red Line Service for Madonna Concert

Public transit users can avoid traffic and park free for Nov. 4 concert

San Diego, CA – The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System will make it easier to rock out to the Material Girl on Tuesday by taking away the stresses of downtown traffic and parking.

MTS will provide Special Event Red Line service from Qualcomm Stadium to PETCO Park for this event, in addition to regular Orange Line service from East County into downtown, and Blue Line service between Old Town and San Ysidro via downtown. Parking at Qualcomm Stadium is free.

The opening act for the Madonna Concert is expected to start at 7:30 p.m. The Special Event Red Line trains will depart Qualcomm Stadium every 15 minutes starting at 5:17p.m., with the last inbound departure at 8:02 p.m. Madonna is expected to take the stage at 9 p.m.

San Diego Trolley's Orange Line provides service to PETCO Park via the 12th & Imperial Transit Center and the Gaslamp Quarter station. Trains run every 15 minutes most of the day. After the show, Orange Line trains will operate every 15 minutes, or more often as needed, until 12:04 a.m. During the concert, the normal Orange Line timetable will be in effect.

The Blue Line provides service to PETCO Park via the 12th & Imperial Transit Center. Trains run every 15 minutes and every 7 and a half minutes during commuting times. After the concert, the Blue Line trains will operate every 15 minutes, or more often as needed, until 11:38 p.m. toward San Ysidro and until 11:46 p.m. toward Old Town. Then, the Blue line service will continue its normal schedule, running every 30 minutes with the last train departure toward San Ysidro at 12:08 a.m., and the last Blue Line departure toward Old Town at 1:31 a.m.

Attendees are encouraged to plan their trip ahead of the event and purchase a $5 Day Pass prior to boarding the Trolley. Ticket sales agents will be located at high volume stations.
