MTS & Coca Cola Laptop Scholarship Deadline is April 17

Annual contest asks graduating seniors to write a speech about reducing their carbon footprint to earn a laptop

The deadline for the annual Metropolitan Transit System and Coca Cola Scholarship Laptop Scholarship is approaching, but there is still time to write a speech and have a chance to earn a laptop. Forty graduating seniors will each be awarded a laptop computer and commemorative certificate by the MTS Board, honoring their award-winning essay.

This year students are being challenged to “write a 5-minute speech to their fellow high school students outlining how they can reduce their carbon footprint by taking public transportation.”

An entry form, with official scholarship rules, can be printed out online at www.sdmts.com or picked up at The Transit Store on the corner of First and Broadway.

Entries must be postmarked by April 17. The MTS & Coca-Cola Scholarship program is presented by the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS), Coca-Cola Bottling Company of San Diego, and San Diego County Office of Education.

The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System transports millions of San Diegans every year with over 90 bus routes and 53 miles of rail. For further information on fares, routes, and schedules, or to plan a trip, visit www.sdmts.com or contact 511.
