Service changes to the Metropolitan Transit System bus service will be effective Sunday, September 6. Most of the service changes are slight changes in frequency on the weekdays or reductions in frequency on the weekend. They are designed to maximize system efficiencies and reduce operating costs.
The weekend changes are effective September 6, and the weekday schedule changes will be effective Tuesday, September 8. This is due to the Labor Day holiday on which MTS will operate a Sunday schedule.
Maps and new timetables for the routes are available at www.sdmts.com. A “Take One” flier has also been posted on buses and Trolleys to inform riders of the changes. New timetables are also available on all buses.
The largest changes to the system are the following:
• Route 84: Weekend service is discontinued due to low ridership.
• Route 120: Sunday service is reduced to hourly north of Fashion Valley
• Route 929: Weekend service will terminate at City College Trolley Station in Downtown San Diego instead of Broadway and State St. Options for passengers travelling west on Broadway include transferring to/from: Route 11 or 901 at 12th/Imperial; Route 3 at Market St.; Blue or Orange Line at City College Trolley station; or Route 2, 7, or 15, on Broadway.
• Route 964: Route 964B service is discontinued during the midday. Route 964A service will continue to operate all day on weekdays, and Route 964B will operate during weekday rush hour periods.
• Weekend frequency reductions on Routes 1, 41, 44, 88 (Sunday frequency reduced to hourly), and 845, and on Route 8/9 on all days.
• Schedule adjustments on Routes 7, 14 (two added eastbound evening trips from SDSU), 25, 30, 105, 845, 880, 921, 923
MTS operates a 54.3-mile light rail transit network, 95 fixed bus routes, and ADA Complementary Public Paratransit Service in the San Diego region. In FY09 it set a system record by carrying more than 91 million passengers.
