MTS ANNOUNCES RED LINE SERVICE FOR WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC
Fans can save money with multiple day passes and free parking at park-n-rides

San Diego, CA – The World Baseball Classic is coming to San Diego, starting Sunday, and MTS will be operating its Special Event Line service all four days. Fans can park for free at MTS park-and-rides and avoid the hassle of downtown traffic by taking the Trolley for just $5. Multiple day passes are also available from ticket vending machines for fans seeing more than one game.

PETCO Park is served by the Trolley’s Blue & Orange Lines via the 12th & Imperial Transit Center. In addition, fans can take the Special Event ‘Red Line’ from Qualcomm Stadium, Mission Valley stations, or Old Town for a direct, transfer-less service to PETCO Park via the Gaslamp Quarter station.

Special Event ‘Red Line’ trains will operate every 15 minutes between Qualcomm Stadium and PETCO Park before and after each game

On Sunday, for Game 1, Special Event trains will operate beginning at 11:32 a.m. with the last departure at 12:47 p.m.

On Sunday, for Game 2, Special Event trains will operate beginning at 6:32 p.m. with the last departure at 7:47 p.m.

On Monday through Wednesday, Special Event trains will operate beginning at 6:02 p.m. with the last departure at 7:47 p.m.

On Thursday, Special Event trains will operate beginning at 4:47 p.m. with the last departure at 5:32 p.m.

For all games, the Special Event ‘Red Line’ service will begin departing the Gaslamp Quarter Station approximately 2 hours & 15 minutes after the start of the game (Ex: 10:28 p.m. for an 8:09 p.m. game). The last ‘Red Line’ train will depart the ballpark approximately 45 minutes after the end of each game. For the 8:00 p.m. games, some post-game trips will continue through to Santee via the Green Line after the normal Green Line schedule has concluded.

MTS’ Blue, Orange and Green Lines will be on regular schedule. The Blue Line between Tijuana and Old Town runs 15 minutes most of the day, with 7.5-minute service during the week day rush hour commute and 30-minute service in the late evening. The Orange Line runs on a 15 minutes schedule most of the day with 30-minute service in the evening. The Green Line runs every 15 minutes during the day with 30-minute service in the evening.

Bus routes 11, 901, 929 arrive directly adjacent to PETCO Park and bus routes 3, 4, 16 and 25 provide downtown service just a short walk from the stadium.

MTS encourages fans to buy day passes before boarding the Trolley on their way to the ballpark in order to save time and avoid ticket lines after the game. One-day Day passes cost $5 for unlimited rides on MTS buses and the Trolley. Fans can also purchase multiple day passes from the ticket vending machines and save money. A two day pass is $9, a three day pass is $12 and a four day pass is $15.
