San Diego, CA –
Construction begins next Monday, August 11th on improvements to the San Diego Trolley’s tracks on C Street in Downtown San Diego. During construction which is expected to be completed by September 21, 2008, Trolley service will be mostly unaffected. During the six weeks of construction:
-- The eastbound vehicle lane on C Street, between Eighth and Tenth Avenues will be closed to automobile traffic. Cars will be detoured to A Street.
-- The Ninth Avenue and C Street intersection will be partially closed to allow for the crossing replacement.
-- There will be some late evening or weekend single tracking of the Trolley along C Street.
The $700,000 project includes replacing the aging track equipment which will improve Trolley operations. It will also remove the Eighth Avenue Crossover and replace it with a new crossover at Ninth Avenue. The funds for this project are from Federal, State, and Center City Development Corporation funds.
