San Diego, CA – The Red Bull Air Races fly into San Diego on May 9 and 10 and Metropolitan Transit System is providing enhanced service downtown for attendees to avoid traffic and parking hassles. The Special Event ‘Red Line’ will operate between Qualcomm Stadium and the Convention Center on Saturday and Sunday every fifteen minutes.
Event organizers are encouraging the use of public transportation and have designated Qualcomm Stadium as the main parking area. Parking is free. Additionally, two children 12-and-under ride free on the MTS system on Saturdays and Sundays when accompanied by an adult with a full fare.
MTS recommends purchasing day passes prior to boarding the Trolley to avoid having to purchases a return fare. A one-day pass is $5 and a two-day pass is $9. Each provides unlimited rides on MTS bus and trolley.
On Saturday, the first Special Event Red Line Trolley will depart Qualcomm Stadium at 10:02 a.m. and arrive at the Convention Center at 10:31 a.m. The last Red Line Trolley will leave the Convention Center stop for Qualcomm Stadium at 5:59 p.m.
On Sunday, the Special Event Red Line service will start earlier and end later to accommodate for the event. The first Trolley will depart Qualcomm Stadium at 9:02 a.m. and arrive at the Convention Center at 9:31 a.m. The last Red Line Trolley will leave the Convention Center at 6:14 p.m. and arrive at Qualcomm Stadium at 6:46 p.m.
