Whether you want to shop along the colorful Mercado or shake your hips alongside the Ballet Folklorio dancers, there is plenty to do for everyone.

Put on your dancing shoes because with three stages of live entertainment the Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo brings together hot sounds from around the globe right to your own backyard. You can Cha Cha to the Salsa sounds, drive your feet to the Rumba beats and wave your colorful dress as you learn how to dance the Ballet Folklorico. Every block will be jam-packed with entertainment from the traditional melodies of the Mariachis to the infused Flamenco guitars and from high-energy accordion rhythms of Norteno to Tejano country and folk songs. Take in the lively percussions of the Cuban Timba or rock out to the popular songs of the Santana Cover Band. You are sure to get lost in all the vibrant and diverse music as you enjoy everything this event has to offer.

In between bands you’ll have plenty of time to search the bustling Mercado for unique gifts and keepsakes from local merchants. With vendors and local merchants offering amazing merchandise it will be hard to go home without spending some dinero. Afterwards, satisfy your south of the border taste buds by stopping into over a dozen restaurants each offering delicious food and drink specials just for the weekend. Whether you are in the mood for homemade guacamole and crispy chips or hungry for authentic tacos, these Old Town restaurants will take care of your every craving!

Your little ninos are going to go crazy for the Children’s Area where they can have the time of their lives as they spend the afternoon participating in fun and interactive activities provided by local non-profit organizations. Learn how to hang ten on shore with the Pacific Beach Surf School or finally get that family portrait you always wanted by visiting Draw the Crowd booth. Gather around the stage and let your imagination guide you as our storytellers take you on a journey through history or get energized as you watch talented local dance groups dance their hearts out.

If your kids are feeling brave, sign them up for the outrageous eating contests where they will challenge themselves as they compete for numerous prizes. Take a break from the action and hop aboard the Wells Fargo Stagecoach where you can capture an idea of how people traveled in the past without the ruts and the dust or head to Twiggs Street and view the amazing low rider displays.

With so many activities and performances to choose from, you and your kids are sure to be entertained and educated during this exciting weekend event!

The Historic Old Town Community Foundation is proud to host the oldest and largest Cinco de Mayo celebration. This organization supports educational and community driven programs throughout Old Town. Break out of your shell and immerse yourself in the vivacious Mexican culture at the 26th Annual Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo.
