On Saturday, July 4, 2009, several fireworks displays are scheduled throughout the region. Whether you want to hit the beach or watch the sparks, MTS can get you there!

MTS will operate expanded service on July 4 on all three Trolley lines until at least one hour after the fireworks end. This includes late Green Line service into Santee.

MTS route 27 in the Pacific Beach/Clairemont area will provide extra service between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on July 3rd, July 4th and July 5th. 

 

Reminder: With the exception of extra holiday service, MTS buses and Trolleys will be on a Sunday schedule on July 3 and a Saturday schedule on July 4. Don't forget to trip plan!

 

Popular July 4 Destinations and How to Get There

 

San Diego Harbor

How to get there: Take the Trolley or Route 2 to America Plaza or Route 992 to Harbor Drive.

• The Annual Big Bay Fireworks Show will begin at 9 p.m. on barges located off Shelter and Harbor Islands. Prime viewing locations easily accessible by MTS include Harbor Drive north of Broadway.

Santee

How to get there: Take the Green Line.

• Celebration activities will begin near the Santee Town Center Station at 3:30 p.m.

• A fireworks display will be held at 9 p.m.

SeaWorld

How to get there: Take Route 8/9.

• Fireworks will be held at 9:30 p.m. on July 3, 4, and 5 Visit SeaWorld’s website for more information on celebrations with paid admission.

Ocean Beach

How to get there: Take Route 35 or 923.

• Fireworks will be held at 9 p.m. at Ocean Blvd. & Newport Ave. at the Ocean Beach Pier

La Jolla Cove

How to get there: Take Route 30.

• Fireworks will be held at 9 p.m. Watch the fireworks from Scripps Park, La Jolla Cove, and La Jolla Shores Beach.

 

Mira Mesa Recreation Center

How to get there: Take Route 921.

• Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. Food, rides, games, and entertainment will be held in Mira Mesa Community Park during the day.

 

Coronado

How to get there: Take Route 901. Additional Route 901 service will be provided every 15 minutes from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• A fireworks display will be held at Glorietta Bay at 9 p.m.

• The annual Coronado Independence Day Parade will be held on Saturday, July 4 from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Routes 901 and 904 will be detoured around the parade area during these hours. Temporary bus stops will be established along the detour route during the parade. Please see the map below for details.

 

 

Chula Vista

The City of Chula Vista’s Independence Day Fireworks display at Bayside Park has been canceled this year due to budget constraints.
