Do you work in Sorrento Valley? Have you been wanting to try out transit, but aren’t quite sure? Now, for three months, the North County Transit District (NCTD) will temporarily eliminate fares on the Sorrento Valley COASTER Connection (SVCC).

The $40 per month pass or the $1 one-way fare will be eliminated starting October 1 until December 31, 2009. At that time, NCTD will evaluate the promotion.

The promotion is designed to encourage greater use of the COASTER and SVCC services. It is made possible by an agreement between NCTD and the Metropolitan Transit System in which NCTD will reimburse MTS for lost revenues of approximately $5,000 per month. The SVCC service currently costs about $30,000 per month to operate, and NCTD and MTS will continue to share the costs not covered by fares.
