MTS Cash Fare and Pass Price Change

Why?

In 2007, SANDAG and MTS approved a phased increase in fares to make up for low sales tax revenue and the State of California's reallocation of transit dollars. Phase 1 was implemented in January 2008 and the second phase will begin in January 2009.

Fares will increase for most monthly passes. The $2 cash fare on Local buses will increase to $2.25 and the $3.50 fare for MTS ADA Suburban Paratransit will increase to $4.50.
