Comic-Con is returning to San Diego in July! This event has grown in scope and prominence through the years with over 100,000 individual attendees, professionals, and exhibitors in recent years. The San Diego Trolley will take you to one of two stations located just steps away from the Convention Center. Take the Orange Line Trolley to either the Convention Center or Gaslamp Quarter stations. But the Orange Line is just one way to get there—plan a trip to find the best route for you. You can also plan your trip on your mobile phone.

Trolley Tickets

A one-way Trolley fare is $2.50, but if you are returning on the Trolley, remember to purchase your $5 Day Pass before boarding. This will help you avoid lines at the Ticket Booth and Ticket Vending Machines on your return trip. A day pass allows unlimited travel on MTS all day.

For those attending more than one day, MTS Day Passes are available in denominations from 1 to 4 days. A multi-day pass is your most economical way to travel to Comic-Con! Day passes can be purchased at station Ticket Vending Machines or at select Trolley stations with ticket booth sales.

2-Days = $9

3-Days = $12

4-Days = $15

Special Event 'Red Line' Service

On July 21, San Diego Trolley will offer its Special Event 'Red Line' service between Qualcomm Stadium and the Convention Center area, serving Old Town and Mission Valley stations along the way. The 'Red Line' will depart Qualcomm Stadium every 15 minutes beginning at 5:02 p.m. Red Line trains will continue to depart the Convention Center area until 10:05 p.m.  

Passengers may also use regular Orange, Blue, and Green Line trains.

Special Event 'Red Line' Service

On July 22-23, San Diego Trolley will offer its Special Event 'Red Line' service between Qualcomm Stadium and the Convention Center area, serving Old Town and Mission Valley stations along the way. The 'Red Line' will depart Qualcomm Stadium every 15 minutes beginning at 7:32 a.m.  Special Event 'Red Line' train will depart the Convention Center every 15 minutes until 9:33 p.m., then every 30 minutes until 12:03 a.m. on both days.  Late Green Line service to Santee will be operated by these 'Red Line' trains beginning at 10:33 p.m. 

Passengers may also use regular Orange, Blue, and Green Line trains.

Service Overview: Saturday and Sunday

Expanded Green Line Service

On Saturday and Sunday, July 24 & 25, the San Diego Trolley will operate special expanded Green Line service to the Convention Center! Beginning at 6:53 a.m. from Santee (7:25 a.m. from Qualcomm Stadium), all Green Line trains will operate past their normal Old Town terminus, continuing on to the Convention Center area. Green Line trains will operate every 15 minutes between Santee and the Convention Center throughout the day. The last train will depart the Convention Center area at 1:55 a.m. on Saturday night!

Late night service operates every 30 minutes (after 9:40 p.m.).

Attendees coming in from La Mesa, El Cajon, and Santee will have two choices: take either the Orange Line or the Green Line to the Convention Center. The travel time from these areas is virtually the same either way (approx. 60 minutes from Santee). Expanded Green Line service continues from the Convention Center toward Santee until 1:55 a.m. on Saturday night/Sunday morning, and 6:10 p.m. on Sunday.

Saturday, July 24, 2010& Sunday, July 25, 2010:

Blue Line:

Normal Blue service will be operated. Transfer to the Orange Line at the 12th & Imperial Transit Center. (NOTE: On Sunday, 7/25, Blue Line service will transition to 15-minute frequency earlier than normal, beginning at 7:59am from San Ysidro.)

15-minute service will begin at 7:52am from Gillespie Field and continue throughout the event. Take the Orange Line to either the Convention Center or Gaslamp Quarter stations.

Green Line:

Special expanded Green Line service will operate to Comic Con on Saturday and Sunday.  As noted below, Green Line trains will continue past their normal Old Town terminus and offer direct service to the San Diego Convention Center.  Reference timetables below for detailed information.

Parking at Qualcomm Stadium during Comic-Con 2010

San Diego Trolley has Park & Ride lots throughout the system. On Thursday and Friday, many of these lots may be full. However, parking is plentiful at Qualcomm Stadium. On Thursday and Friday, take the Special Event 'Red Line' for direct service to the Convention Center from the stadium. On Saturday and Sunday, take the extended Green Line for direct service to the Convention Center.

Get to Comic-Con from North County on the COASTER

The North County Transit District operates the COASTER train, which brings travelers from Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Sorrento Valley, and Old Town to connect to the Trolley. Purchase a $14 RegionPlus Day Pass, which includes round trip COASTER travel and free transfers to the San Diego Trolley and all buses in the region. Purchase yours on the day of travel from a COASTER station Ticket Vending Machine on the Compass Card (a re-useable transit smart card). The COASTER does not operate on Sunday, July 25.
