This year, the Metropolitan Transit System is celebrating pop culture past and present with Comic-Con International goers!
In addition to offering frequent Special Event service from Qualcomm Stadium to the Convention Center as demanded by Klingons (at the bargain price of $15 for four days of unlimited transit), MTS hosted a Comic-Con-inspired costume contest at the Klingon-themed Gaslamp Quarter Trolley Station.
Klingons Take Over the Gaslamp Quarter Trolley Station
Ill-tempered Klingons (from the San-Diego based group IKV Stranglehold) staged a takeover of the Gaslamp Quarter Trolley Station on Tuesday morning! The Klingons demanded expanded Trolley service during Comic-Con—a request MTS was happy to meet—and forced transit workers to replace existing station signage with Klingon-language signs. With help from Klingon language experts Steven Boozer (Voragh), Chris Lipscombe (qurgh), and Michael Roney, Jr. (naHQun), MTS was able to answer the Klingons' demands and assure the safe passage of Comic-Con attendees.

MTS Hosts Comic-Con-inspired Costume Contest
MTS and Rock 105.3 invited San Diegans to dress up for our first-ever Comic-Con-inspired costume contest on Tuesday evening. A colorful array of characters descended upon the Gaslamp Quarter Trolley Station to show off their inventive costumes and went home with Comic-Con International passes! Keep your eyes open this Thursday–Saturday; you'll be sure to spot some interesting characters walking around the Gaslamp!
