Dump the Pump on June 18th!

Tired of costly gas, parking and vehicle maintenance prices? Want to support public transportation? Hang your car out to dry for the 10th Annual National Dump the Pump Day! On Thursday, June 18, people around the nation will dump the pump and choose to take transit over a personal vehicle.

Join MTS and the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) to show your support for Dump the Pump Day! When you do, you can score big!

  • A recent APTA report shows the average San Diegan can save more than $12,000 annually when they switch to transit from a personal vehicle (gas, parking, maintenance, etc.)
  • Get a free grocery tote! From June 14-18, stop by any retail outlet where Compass Cards are sold, purchase any pass on Compass Card and you will get a free Dump the Pump reusable grocery tote, while supplies last. See a list of grocery and outlet retailers here.
  • Win freebies! MTS and North County Transit District will be at the Old Town Transit Center and Escondido Transit Center on Thursday, June 18 from 7 to 11 a.m. with giveaway for riders. Win two Padres tickets in the Toyota Terrace Pavilion, a new pair of ear buds, a coffee mug and more! You must have a valid Compass Card or Day Pass to spin the wheel.
