Taxi Administration

The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) Taxicab Administration has contractual agreements with the cities of El Cajon, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, Poway, San Diego and Santee through June 30, 2013 to license and regulate the following for-hire vehicles:

Taxicab
Nonemergency Medical
Jitney
Charter
Low Speed Vehicle (LSV)
Sightseeing

The program is headed by the Director of Contract Services. The Taxicab Administration staff includes one Manager and seven Regulatory Analysts.

Taxicab Administration personnel determine owner eligibility; inspect vehicles; issue permits; monitor compliance with administrative and operational regulations; investigate passenger complaints and compliments.
