Taxi Administration

The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) Taxicab Administration has contractual agreements with the cities of El Cajon, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, Poway, San Diego and Santee through June 30, 2008, to license and regulate the following for-hire vehicles:
  • Taxicab
  • Nonemergency Medical
  • Jitney
  • Charter
  • Low Speed Vehicle (LSV)
  • Sightseeing

The program is headed by the Director of Contract Services.  The Taxicab Administration staff includes one Manager and seven Regulatory Specialists.

Taxicab Administration personnel determine owner eligibility; inspect vehicles; issue permits; monitor compliance with administrative and operational regulations; investigate passenger complaints and compliments.
