Now Better Transit

More and more people are back onboard transit in San Diego – up 7% from a year ago. MTS logged more than 81 million trips on bus and Trolley service last year (July 2024 – June 2025). We helped people get to work (44%), to school (23%) and record numbers took MTS to special events too (5%).

There’s a lot to celebrate. While we face some significant challenges ahead, we’re still working to make transit better than we were before.

Creating a better environment for people waiting and riding for transit with more shade, places to sit and cleaner stations.
Making changes to help ensure that people feel safe and welcome on board with better lighting and more security
Being efficient and making the best use of public funding by ensuring every dollar is well-spent.
Continuing to serve as a reliable, trustworthy partner in the San Diego region that helps our most vulnerable residents get to the places they need to go.
