MTS: The Easy Way to Petco Park
Beat traffic by taking the Trolley to Petco Park! Here are some important tips for getting to Petco Park:
- Avoid purchasing one-way cash fares at the ticket machines the day-of if possible. Speaking of PRONTO...Ticket lines get long pre-and post-game. Fans should load enough money for a round-trip to your PRONTO app or your card at RidePRONTO.com in advance ($5 Adult, $3 Seniors, Youth 18 and under can ride free). If purchasing a fare day-of, load enough money to your PRONTO card at the ticket machine in advance rather than paying for separate cash fares. With money loaded to your app or PRONTO card, you must tap or scan at a station validator before boarding.
- Everyone needs their own PRONTO card or app account. Please note: You cannot pay for multiple people with one PRONTO card or app account or card, each person needs their own fare.
- Contactless Payment is here! Now MTS riders can easily tap-to-pay with debit or credit cards, smartphones, or smartwatches. Enjoy quick, hassle-free fare processing on buses and rail platforms—just tap and ride away - get more information here!
- See below for extra details on how kids can ride free, free park and ride lots, and more!
Located in the heart of downtown San Diego, Petco Park plays host to the Padres, as well as many special events and concerts throughout the year. Fans can avoid traffic and parking delays, and get to the game on time, by choosing transit. All three MTS Trolley lines, plus numerous bus routes provide direct, easy access to Petco Park.
Visitors can plan ahead with the Trip Planner and get alerts and service updates online. Follow Petco Park, the Padres, and MTS on Twitter for alerts and notices.

Pay Your Fare with PRONTO
PRONTO is the easy way to pay for your transit fare! Download the PRONTO App to your phone, then load money onto your app ahead of game day. Alternatively, you can also pick up and add money to a PRONTO card (one-time $2 fee) at any Trolley ticket machine (lines can get long on game day, so plan ahead!), or any participating retail network location.
Kids ride free! Take advantage of the MTS Youth Opportunity Pass or Family Weekends (two kids 12 and under ride free with an adult, no PRONTO card needed) promotions.
Tap or scan your PRONTO card/app at a station validator every time you ride! A one-way fare will be deducted (valid for free transfers for two hours), up to the value of a Day Pass. Every passenger must have their own PRONTO app or PRONTO card.
We recommend loading at least enough money for a round-trip to save time post-game! You can also add more money to your account for future use (money added to PRONTO never expires). Click here to learn more about PRONTO or view our Full Fare Chart.
