All Buses and Trolleys Will Operate on a Regular Weekday Service on Christmas Eve
San Diego – San Diego Metropolitan Transit System bus and Trolley services will operate on a modified schedule and offer a special promotion for the Christmas holiday. MTS scheduling information is as follows:
Christmas Eve, Monday, Dec. 24: All Trolley lines and MTS local, urban, Express, Rapid and Rapid Express bus routes will operate on a normal weekday schedule.
Christmas Day, Tuesday, Dec. 25: All Trolley lines (except Silver Line) will operate on a half-hour frequency. There will be Sunday service on Rapid 201/202, 215 and 235, urban local bus routes and Express Routes 20 and 950. No service will be provided on Rapid Express 280 and 290, nor on Rapid 204, 225 and 237, Sorrento Valley COASTER Connection, rural and other Express bus routes or the Vintage Trolley (Silver Line).
Support Services: MTS Information & Trip Planning will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24 and closed on Tuesday, Dec. 25. The Transit Store, Compass Service Center, and Customer Service offices will close at 5p.m on Dec. 24 and be closed Dec. 25. Customers who need MTS information on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, can visit the MTS website or download the mobile app OneBusAway for real-time information. The automated InfoExpress phone line will also remain available by calling 619-685-4900. All offices will reopen on Wednesday, Dec. 26 with regular business hours.
Special Promotion for the Holiday weekend and Christmas Day! On Saturday and Sunday, MTS allows up to two children (age 12 and under) to ride free with a fare-paying adult (age 18 or older) on all MTS routes. On Christmas Day, MTS allows a friend to ride free with a fare-paying customer on all MTS routes.
MTS operates 95 bus routes and three Trolley lines on 53 miles of double-tracked railway. Every weekday, 300,000 passenger trips are taken on MTS bus and Trolley services in 10 cities and unincorporated areas of the county. In FY 2018, MTS served more than 86 million riders.
