San Diego – San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) bus and Trolley services will operate modified schedules for the Christmas holiday weekend.
MTS modified scheduling is as follows:
Christmas Eve (Saturday, Dec. 24): All Trolley lines and most MTS bus routes will operate normal Saturday service schedules.
Christmas Day (Sunday, Dec. 25): All Trolley lines will operate on a half-hour frequency. Most MTS bus routes will operate normal Sunday service schedules.
Christmas Day Observed (Monday, Dec. 26): All Trolley lines and most MTS bus routes will operate a Saturday service schedule.
From Dec. 24-26, the following routes will not operate:
- MTS Express Routes 50, 60, 110, 870
- MTS Rapid 237 and Rapid Express Routes 280 and 290
- MTS Rural Routes 888, 891, 892 and 894
- Routes 972,973, 978, 979 (Sorrento Valley COASTER Connection)

Customer Service: On Christmas Eve, The Transit Store and Customer Service Call Center will be closed. The MTS Information & Trip Planning Office will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Compass Card Call Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Christmas Day, The Transit Store and all customer call centers will be closed. Customers who need MTS information on Sunday can visit the website (www.sdmts.com), or download the mobile app, OneBusAway. Automated routing/scheduling information is also available 24/7 through the Info-Express line, 619-685-4900. On Dec. 26, the MTS Information & Trip Planning Office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Transit Store and all customer call centers will be closed. The offices will reopen with regular business hours on Tuesday, Dec. 27.
Friends Ride Free on Christmas! On Christmas Day, MTS is offering a special holiday promotion called Friends Ride Free allowing each paying passenger to bring one friend on the bus and Trolley for no charge.
MTS operates 95 bus routes and three Trolley lines on 53 miles of double-tracked railway. Every weekday more than 300,000 passenger trips are taken on MTS bus and Trolley services in 10 cities and the county. In FY 2016, MTS served 92.6 million riders.
