- 🚩 Arrive early for the 11am kickoff with the annual flag raising ceremony featuring local scouts.
- 🎸 Stay and listen to live music by Billy Lee and The Swamp Critters.🎶
- End the day by joining the watermelon eating contest 🍉 and placing a bid in this year’s community-made quilt raffle!
Take the Green Line or UC San Diego Blue Line Trolley to Old Town for the event! Remember, it's a major holiday so the FRIENDS RIDE FREE promotion is in effect (ALL DAY). A friend may ride free with a fare-paying customer on all MTS routes on July 4, 2025 for the entire day. Youth also ride free with a Youth PRONTO card/account. Youth Opportunity Pass Program.
PRONTO is the easy way to pay for your transit fare! Download the PRONTO App to your phone, then load money onto your app ahead of the fireworks show. Alternatively, you can also pick-up and add money to a PRONTO card (one-time $2 fee) at any Trolley ticket machine (lines can get long the day of, so plan ahead!), or any participating retail network location.
We also now have Contactless Payments! With the new contactless payment option riders are able to tap-to-pay and ride away! Remember that each person needs their own form of payment. Learn more about Contactless Payments.
