Face Coverings Required on MTS Starting May 1

Face Coverings

The County of San Diego issued a new public health order, requiring community members to wear a face covering when in public they come within six feet of another person, effective May 1. As a result, all MTS riders will be required to wear a face covering when riding transit, starting Friday, May 1 (and until further notice).

Wearing a mask when riding transit can help keep MTS employees and other passengers safe.

  • Face coverings must be worn at all times when riding transit (this includes when on board vehicles, at bus stops, Trolley stations and transit centers)
  • Face coverings must cover the rider's nose and mouth
  • Face coverings include: masks (purchased or homemade), bandanas, scarves and neck gaiters

For additional information, passengers can view information from the State of California, or view the CDC guidelines for making and using a homemade face covering.
