The Countdown to World Cup '26 Starts this Weekend at Snapdragon Stadium

Ahead of the World Cup this summer, several international teams will host matches at Snapdragon Stadium

San Diego – San Diego FC, in partnership with Snapdragon Stadium, will host two "Countdown to '26" soccer matches this weekend, featuring four teams competing in the World Cup this summer. Riders are encouraged to avoid traffic and expensive parking fees (over $40) by taking the Trolley to watch Switzerland, Australia, Colombia and Jordan compete this weekend.

For fans unable to get tickets or make a trip to a surrounding city for the World Cup, the "Countdown to '26" is a great opportunity to take part in the fun ahead of time. On Saturday, June 6, fans can watch one of the U.S.'s group stage competitors, Australia, take on Switzerland. Then, Colombia and Jordan face-off Sunday, June 7.

  • Green Line Service (Pre-event, both days): Trolleys depart stations every 15 minutes from downtown San Diego and El Cajon.
  • Green Line Service (Post-event, both days): Trolleys depart Stadium Station every 15 minutes in both directions, with additional trips added as needed.

Easy Ways to Pay Your Fare

Contactless Payment: Fans now have the option to simply tap a credit card or other contactless payment options, such as a smartphone or smartwatch, on a station validator to pay for a one-way ride ($2.50, valid for two hours). This allows fans to bypass the ticket machine and speed up boarding times.

Kids ride free! Families going to the soccer match can save money by taking MTS. During weekends, two children 12 and under ride for free with every paying adult.

PRONTO: Fans can download the PRONTO app in advance and load at least $5, which covers a round-trip fare for adult riders. All riders must tap or scan their pass on Trolley platform validators prior to boarding.

Every person needs their own payment option; you cannot buy fares for multiple people on the same account, card or payment method.
