I-8 Sinkhole Traffic Relief for Evening Commuters on Trolley’s Green Line

San Diego – The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) will offer overnight parking at Qualcomm Stadium tonight for commuters seeking to avoid severe traffic congestion on Eastbound Interstate 8 due to a sinkhole near the College Ave exit.   

There are more than 5,000 free parking spots available at Qualcomm Stadium for Trolley passengers. Qualcomm Stadium is served by the Green Line and has connections to the other Trolley lines in La Mesa, El Cajon and downtown San Diego.

To get to Qualcomm Stadium, use Friars Road. Trains will be departing every 15 minutes and stations are a short distance away, including:

  • Alvarado Station: 10 minutes
  • 70th Street Station: 12 minutes
  • Grossmont Transit Center: 18 minutes (transfer to Orange Line available here)
  • El Cajon Transit Center: 25 minutes
  • Santee Town Center Station: 36 minutes

Qualcomm Stadium asks motorists to park under or adjacent to the Trolley Station, located on the south side of the stadium and to be aware that the stadium is closed to all vehicle traffic between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m.

MTS operates 95 bus routes and three Trolley lines on 53 miles of double-tracked railway. Every weekday more than 300,000 passenger trips are taken on MTS bus and Trolley services.
