Important Trolley Service Information for U2 Concert

San Diego – After a 12 year absence, the legendary Irish rock band, U2, is performing on Friday at the San Diego County Credit Union Stadium and the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is increasing Trolley service to accommodate the large crowds. To speed up boarding and add convenience, MTS recommends that Trolley riders use the mobile ticketing app called Compass Cloud.

Traveling to/from the concert - The Trolley’s Green Line drops fans off right at the stadium’s doorstep. Trains will depart most Green Line stations every 15 minutes throughout the day. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m., and extra train service will operate from 5-9 p.m. between Old Town and the stadium. After the concert, extra trains on the Green Line will serve the stadium until crowds diminish. The concert is anticipated to end at 11 p.m. The last trains to leaving the stadium are at 12:22 a.m. (toward Santee) and 12:38 a.m. (toward downtown).

Skip the Crowd with the Cloud! – The Compass Cloud mobile ticketing app is the best option for concert-goers to purchase Trolley tickets. The app allows fans to avoid ticket lines and purchase tickets at any time directly from their smartphones. As a bonus, Compass Cloud users can bypass the Trolley line after the game through the Compass Cloud express lane on the west side of the Trolley station ramp.  Multiple Compass Cloud mobile tickets can be purchased on one smartphone too, making it easy for families and friends traveling to the concert together. For more information, visit the Compass Cloud webpage.

Finding the best place to park and ride the Trolley is also important! Prime park and ride locations for the concert are:

  • Grantville Station: 350 free parking spots (Green Line, 4 minutes to stadium)
  • Grossmont Transit Center: 404 free parking spots (Green/Orange Lines, 17 minutes to stadium)
  • Old Town Transit Center: 412 free parking spots (Green Line, 14 minutes to stadium)
  • Amaya Drive Station: 236 free parking spots (Green/Orange  Line 19 minutes to stadium)

MTS operates 95 bus routes and three Trolley lines on 53 miles of double-tracked railway. Every weekday more than 300,000 passenger trips are taken on MTS bus and Trolley services in 10 cities and the county. In FY 2017, MTS served more than 88 million riders.
