Avoid traffic and parking headaches—Trolley takes you straight to the show
San Diego – Music icon Elton John is set to bring the magic to Petco Park Friday, May 9, with a one-night-only performance for Curebound’s Concert for Cures, and the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is ramping up Trolley service to take fans there in style.
With tens of thousands expected to attend, fans are encouraged to travel early to avoid crowds and use the free MTS park and ride lots for a hassle-free experience getting to the show.
Getting to Curebound Concert for Cures: Elton John
Pre-Concert Service
- All Trolley Lines: Trolleys will serve all stations every 15 minutes or better. Fans should use the Gaslamp Quarter Trolley Station (Green Line) or 12th & Imperial Transit Center (UC San Diego Blue Line, Orange Line) for easy access to Petco Park.
Post-Concert Service
- UC San Diego Blue Line: Trolleys will depart every 15 minutes to UTC (last trip at 11:08 pm.) and to San Ysidro (last trip at 12:07 a.m.).
- Green Line: Trolleys will depart every 15 minutes, with extra trips as needed until crowds diminish. Last trip departs at 11:36 p.m.
- Orange Line: Trolleys will depart every 15 minutes toward El Cajon Transit Center. Last trip departs at 11:56 p.m.
- Copper Line: Trolleys will depart El Cajon Transit Center every 15 minutes toward Santee. Last trip departs at 11:40 p.m.
Easy Ways to Pay Your Fare
PRONTO: Concertgoers should download the PRONTO app in advance. Load at least $5 on your virtual card, which covers a round-trip fare for adult riders. All riders must tap or scan on validators to activate their pass or fare prior to boarding.
Contactless Payment: Concertgoers now have the option to simply tap a credit card or other contactless payment options, such as a smartphone or smartwatch, on a station validator to pay for a one-way ride ($2.50, valid for two hours). This allows attendees to bypass the ticket vending machine and speed up wait times.
Every person needs their own payment option, you cannot buy fares for multiple people on the same account, card or payment method.
Parking Options
Attendees can park at one of MTS’ free Park & Ride lots throughout the Trolley system. The most convenient locations are:
- Old Town Transit Center (UC San Diego Blue and Green Line, 400+ free parking spots)
- Grossmont Transit Center (Green and Orange Line, 220 free parking spots)
- El Cajon Transit Center (Green and Orange Line, 400+ free parking spots)
- Amaya Drive (Green and Orange Line, 236 free parking spots)
- H Street (UC San Diego Blue Line, 295 free parking spots)
- Balboa Avenue Transit Center (UC San Diego Blue Line, 227 free parking spots)
- Tecolote Station (UC San Diego Blue Line, 279 free parking spots)
