Reduced holiday service will run on Memorial Day; but extra Trolleys for Padres, SDFC and Wave fans
San Diego – Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer, and big crowds are expected across San Diego with major events all weekend long. In observance of Memorial Day, the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) will operate a reduced Sunday/holiday service schedule for buses and Trolleys on Monday, May 25, with the exception of extra Trolley service before and after the Padres game. Regular weekday schedules will resume on Tuesday, May 26.
San Diego will host several major sporting events this weekend, drawing tens of thousands of fans to Snapdragon Stadium and Petco Park. To accommodate the high volume of fans, MTS will ramp up Trolley service for each event.
- Saturday, 6:30 p.m. – San Diego FC vs. Vancouver FC
MTS will boost Green Line service to and from Snapdragon Stadium to make the gameday experience more seamless for fans. Extra Trolley service (every 7.5 minutes) will run between downtown and the Stadium Station starting approximately two hours pre-game. Fans are encouraged to travel early with a Padres game (vs the Athletics) also on Saturday evening. Service details are available on the event webpage. - Sunday, 4 p.m. – San Diego Wave FC vs. Orlando Pride
Green Line service will run every 15 minutes pre- and post-game, with extra post-game service from the Stadium as needed. Fans can visit the event webpage for full info. - Monday (Memorial Day), 3:40 p.m. – San Diego Padres vs. Philadelphia Phillies
It's a National League showdown when the Phillies fly into town on Memorial Day. Fans can ride the UC San Diego Blue Line, Orange Line or Green Line directly to the ballpark. While Trolley service will run on a Sunday service schedule most of the day, added pre-game service along the Green Line will run between the Stadium Station and downtown starting at approximately 2 p.m. Service will run every 15 minutes on all three lines post-game, with extra trips as needed. Full details on the Padres vs. Phillies webpage.
Fans can skip traffic and high parking costs by using any of MTS' free Park & Ride lots, conveniently located throughout the Trolley network. A full list of Park & Ride lots is available on the MTS website.
