MTS Adds Service for Sunday’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon; Advises Riders of Impacts to Bus Routes

San Diego, CA – On Sunday, June 1, MTS is providing special early morning service for all runners and spectators getting to San Diego's famous Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon.

With an event that uses San Diego's streets for a race course, there will also be many interruptions to MTS Bus services. There will be detours and bus stop closures on more than 20 different bus routes. Riders should plan ahead and allow for extra travel time.

Bus Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 15, 20, 30, 41, 44, 105, 120, 901, 928, 929 and 992 will have service impacts. To find out more about the effect on each bus route, visit http://www.sdmts.com/trolley/rocknrollmarathon.asp for details. Blue Line and Orange Line service will also terminated at City College Station between 6:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. There will be a shuttle Trolley between America Plaza and City College (board on the west side of 11th Avenue).

Riding MTS is still the way to get downtown to enjoy all of the music and festivities. Here are some tips for riding:

Tickets and Passes: All riders (runners and spectators) must have a valid ticket or pass. All children 5 and under always ride free. On Saturday and Sunday, two children 6 to 12 years of age, who ride with a paid adult, are also free.

Racers are encouraged to buy a Day Pass before boarding the Trolley on their way to the marathon to save time and avoid ticket lines. The 1-day Day Pass is $5 when loaded on a Compass Card. There is a $2 additional charge for a Compass Card.

A 1-day paper day pass, valid for Sunday only, will be for sale for $6 (cash only) at limited locations:

Convention Center Expo
• Friday – 11 am to 7 pm
• Saturday – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Select Trolley Stations on Sunday morning
• Qualcomm Stadium – 3:40 a.m.
• Fashion Valley Transit Center – 6 a.m.
