San Diego – Rock legends The Eagles, Journey and Def Leppard are coming to downtown San Diego for back-to-back concerts at Petco Park this weekend and the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is boosting service to accommodate more than 70,000 concert-goers over the weekend. Attendees are encouraged to use Compass Cloud, the mobile ticketing app to speed up boarding and avoid ticket vending maching lines.
The Eagles - Saturday, Sept. 22— The concert kicks off at 5 p.m. Trains will depart all stations every 15 minutes throughout the day on all three Trolley lines. Beginning at 3 p.m., Sycuan Green Line trains will increase frequency to every 7.5 minutes between SDCCU Stadium* and Petco Park. Increased frequency will continue after the concert until crowds diminish. The final trains leaving the downtown area are all after midnight including:
- Green Line (12th & Imperial to Santee): 12:36 a.m.
- UC San Diego Blue Line (12th & Imperial to San Ysidro): 12:30 a.m.
- Orange Line (12th & Imperial to El Cajon): 12:26 a.m.
*Saturday concert-goers should note that due to an SDSU football game, there will be no free parking available at SDCCU Stadium. Alternate park and ride locations along the Green Line include:
- Old Town: 412 free parking spaces
- Morena/Linda Vista: 199 free spaces
- Hazard Center: 1500 spaces (lower level only)
- Grantville: 254 free parking spaces
Journey/Def Leppard – Sunday, Sept. 23— The concert kicks off at 6 p.m. Trains will depart all stations every 15-30 minutes throughout Sunday on all three Trolley lines. Beginning at 3:52 p.m., Sycuan Green Line trains will increase frequency to every 7.5 minutes between SDCCU Stadium* and Petco Park until 5:22 p.m. Increased frequency will resume at 10 p.m. to accommodate crowds leaving the concert, which is scheduled to end at 11 p.m. The final trains leaving the downtown area are as follows:
Sycuan Green Line (12th & Imperial to Santee): 12:00 a.m.
UC San Diego Blue Line (12th & Imperial to San Ysidro): 12:00 a.m.
Orange Line (12th & Imperial to El Cajon): 11:56 p.m.
*5,000 free parking spaces will be available at SDCCU Stadium on Sunday.
MTS also has 22 bus routes reaching the downtown area including Rapid 215 (SDSU – downtown San Diego) and Rapid 235 (Escondido – downtown San Diego). Both routes will be departing stations every 15 minutes for most of the day for both concerts.
To avoid Trolley ticket lines and speed up the boarding process, concert-goers can purchase and store Trolley passes on their smart phones at any time prior to arriving at transit stations by using Compass Cloud, MTS’s free mobile ticketing app. Fans can find the app by search for “Compass Cloud” in the App Store or on Google Play.
