MTS Christmas Holiday Schedule and Promotions

Discounts offered at Global Winter Wonderland to attendees showing MTS Compass products    

San Diego – San Diego Metropolitan Transit System bus and Trolley services will operate on a modified schedule and offer special promotions for the Christmas holiday weekend. MTS scheduling information is as follows:

Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24: All Trolley lines and MTS local, urban, express, Rapid and Rapid Express bus routes will operate normal Sunday schedules.

Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 25: All Trolley lines will operate on a half-hour frequency. There will be Sunday service on Rapid 201/201, 204, 215 and 235, urban local bus routes and Express Routes 20 and 950. No service will be provided on Rapid Express and Rapid 237, Sorrento Valley COASTER Connection, other Express bus routes or the Vintage Trolley (SDG&E Silver Line).

Support Services: MTS Information & Trip Planning will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 24 and closed on Monday, Dec. 25.  The Transit Store, Compass Service Center, and Customer Service offices will be closed from Dec. 24 – 25. Customers who need MTS information on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, can visit the MTS website or download the mobile app OneBusAway for real-time information. All offices will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 26 with regular business hours.

Promotions! On Christmas Day, MTS allows a friend to ride free with a fare-paying customer on all MTS routes. On Saturday and Sunday, MTS allows up to two children (age 12 and under) to ride free with a fare-paying adult (age 18 or older) on all MTS routes.

Global Winter Wonderland Discounts: Now through January 7, MTS passengers get discounts on admission and ride wristbands at the Global Winter Wonderland at SDCCU Stadium. Passengers just need to show their Compass products (Compass Cloud mobile ticket or a Compass Card) to receive a $4 discount on admission and/or an $18 discount (50%) on the Unlimited Ride Wristband. MTS provides direct service to the attraction on the Sycuan Green Line.

MTS operates 95 bus routes and three Trolley lines on 53 miles of double-tracked railway. Every weekday, 300,000 passenger trips are taken on MTS bus and Trolley services in 10 cities and unincorporated areas of the county.
