Mobile tickets and extended service make it easy and convenient to take transit to Monster Jam, with expected attendance of over 50,000
San Diego, CA – The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is making it easy and convenient for fans to take public transit to Monster Jam at Qualcomm Stadium Saturday, January 18, by providing more frequent service on the Green Line and making mobile tickets available for purchase on smartphones.
MTS will increase the number of Green Line trains before and after the event, providing 15 minute service throughout most of the day between Old Town and the stadium. Whether fans are attending the Pit Party that starts at 3 p.m. or just the race, which starts at 7 p.m., there will be ample opportunity to board a train to the stadium.
When traveling to Monster Jam, fans can skip ticket lines and head directly to the station platform by purchasing a Trolley Day Pass for $5.50 on any smartphone using the free MTS mTicket app. The mTicket can be purchased several days in advance. After the event, mTicket holders can skip lines again using the mTicket Express Lane to access the station platform and bypass departing crowds. An added benefit of the mTicket is that families and groups can purchase multiple passes on one phone, as long as they travel together. Download the app by searching “MTS mTicket” at the App Store or Google Play, or visit www.sdmts.com/mTicket.asp.
Attendees can also buy a Day Pass on a reusable Compass Card at any ticket vending machine before boarding. The Day Pass is $5 for current card holders. Riders without a Compass Card will need to purchase a card for $2 in addition to the cost of the pass. The Compass Card should be saved as it can be used again to load passes for future travel on MTS buses and Trolleys.
Fans can also take advantage of the MTS “Family Weekends” special promotion. Every Saturday and Sunday, any two children ages 12 and under ride free when accompanied by an adult with a paid fare.
When taking the Trolley to Qualcomm, parking is easy with free park & ride lots at Old Town, Morena, Hazard Center (lower level only), Grantville, Grossmont Center, Amaya Dr. (La Mesa), El Cajon Transit Center, Gillespie Field and Santee Town Center. Orange Line fans should transfer to the Green Line at either Grossmont Center or Santa Fe Depot. Blue Line fans should transfer to the Green Line at the 12th & Imperial Transit Center.
