MTS Increases Service for Two Weekends of Monster Jam

Green Line Trolley takes you directly to the doorstep of Snapdragon Stadium

San Diego – Monster Jam is set to debut this weekend at Snapdragon Stadium! Over the next two weekends, thousands of fans will head to Snapdragon for an unforgettable motorsports experience, January 7-8 and 14-15. With some Monster Jam activities beginning as early as 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and 11:30 a.m. on Sundays, the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) will be increasing Trolley service to accommodate the large crowds. Event attendees are encouraged to forget about traffic and parking jams, and enjoy Monster Jam by taking the Green Line Trolley to Stadium Station.

Getting to Monster Jam:

Saturdays, January 7 and 14 (2:30 p.m. Pit Party; 7 p.m. show time)

Pre-Event: Green Line trains will serve the Stadium Station every 15 minutes until about 7:30pm.

Post-Event: In addition to regular 30-minute service on the Green Line, additional trips from the Stadium Station will be added as needed.

Sundays, January 8 and 15: (11:30 a.m. Pit Party; 3 p.m. show time)

Pre-Event: All Trolley Lines will provide regular service pre- and post-event.

Post-Event: Regular Green Line service will be operating every 15 minutes westbound (to 12th & Imperial) and eastbound every 15 minutes to SDSU and every 30 minutes beyond SDSU.  Extra trains will be available to provide additional trips as necessary.

To help expedite the boarding process, fans should download the PRONTO app in advance. Load at least $5 on your virtual card for Monster Jam, which covers a round-trip fare for adult riders (every person needs their own PRONTO app or card, you cannot buy fares for multiple people on the same device). If you have a PRONTO card, you can load your card in advance online at ridepronto.com to avoid long lines at ticket machines.

Kids ride free! Families going to Monster Jam can save big by taking MTS. On weekends, two children 12 and under ride for free with every paying adult. Youth ages 18 and under with a registered Youth PRONTO card or app account can ride free with the Youth Opportunity Pass.

Free Park & Ride Lots:

Fans are encouraged to use MTS' free park & ride lots throughout the Trolley system, then take the Green Line directly to the Stadium. View the full list of Park & Ride lots on the MTS website. The closest locations to the Stadium Station are:

  • Hazard Center (1,500 free parking spots; lower level only)
