MTS Ramps up Service for Aztecs Football; Labor Day Service Schedule

The Trolley’s Sycuan Green Line drops off fans at the doorstep to the stadium

San Diego – The busy Labor Day weekend kicks off with the return of Aztec Football with a matchup between the SDSU Aztecs and the Weber State Wildcats. The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) will ramp up Trolley service for the thousands of fans expected to rush to the SDCCU Stadium on Saturday. Additional service begins three hours before the 6 p.m. kick off, and continues until crowds disperse after the Sky Show fireworks following the game.

Fans taking the Sycuan Green Line Trolley are conveniently dropped off at the doorstep to the stadium.

Sycuan Green Line takes you to SDCCU:

  • Trains will depart most Green Line stations every 15 minutes throughout the day
  • MTS will increase the number of pre- and post-game trains
  • Increased service begins at 3 p.m. between SDSU Transit Center and SDCCU Stadium
  • Increased service begins at 4 p.m. between Old Town Transit Center and SDCCU Stadium

Avoid Game Day Traffic! Park and Ride the Trolley

Finding the best place to park and ride the Trolley is also important! Prime park and ride locations for the game are:

  • Hazard Center Station: 1,500 free parking spots (lower level only; 6 minutes to stadium)
  • Old Town Transit Center: 412 free parking spots (15 minutes to stadium)
  • Grantville Trolley Station: 404 free parking spots (4 minutes to stadium)
  • El Cajon Transit Center: 469 free parking spots (23 minutes to stadium)

Labor Day Service and Promotions:

MTS will operate on a modified service schedule on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2. Service information on Labor Day includes:

  • MTS buses and Trolleys will operate on a Sunday schedule
  • Express Routes 20 and 950- Sunday Schedule
  • Rapid 201/202, 215, 225 and 235 – Sunday schedule
  • Rapid 237 and 204, Rapid Express 280 and 290 – No service
  • Sorrento Valley COASTER Connection (Routes 972, 973, 978, 979) – No service
  • Express Routes 50, 60, 110, 150– No service
  • Rural Route 888 – No service, but will operate on Tuesday, Sept. 3 instead
  • Rural Routes 891, 892 and 894 – No service

Labor Day Weekend Promotions! On Saturday and Sunday MTS allows up to two children (age 12 and under) to ride free with a fare-paying adult (age 18 or older) on all MTS routes. On Labor Day, a friend may ride free with a fare-paying customer on all MTS routes.

Support Services – The MTS Information and Trip Planning call center will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Labor Day. The MTS Transit Store, Compass Service Center and Customer Service call center will be open 8 a.m. to  5p.m., as there are fare changes beginning September 1.
