MTS asks commuters to weigh in on new rapid bus services and proposed route changes along I-15 corridor and mid-city routes.
San Diego, CA – The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) announced today that it has initiated several outreach opportunities for riders to weigh in on plans for potential route changes to support the new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System that will be launched mid-2014.
The BRT System will provide a faster commute for riders by offering new routes in the mid-city area and along the I-15 corridor. Before any final recommendations are presented to the MTS board of directors at a public hearing in late 2013, transit planners want riders to contribute to the planning process and provide feedback about proposed route changes.
MTS is hosting public outreach events throughout September to offer riders an opportunity to give feedback, speak with MTS personnel, and view maps with proposed route changes. Outreach events are scheduled at the following times and locations:
Sept. 12, 3–6 p.m., Westview Pkwy. in Mira Mesa (Rts. 31 and 921 stop)
Sept. 17, 1–-4 p.m., SDSU Transit Center
Sept. 18, 3–6 p.m., City College Trolley Station (near the Cricket store)
Riders can also review all the proposals online and provide their opinion through Sept. 20, via an online survey at http://www.bit.ly/rapidsurvey, by emailing mts.planning@sdmts.com, or by calling a special hotline at 619-595-4912.
