Ride MTS and Enjoy a Traffic-Free Labor Day Weekend Full of Activities

San Diego – Labor Day weekend will be filled with fun activities for the whole family, such as Padres baseball, SDSU Aztecs football and San Diego Wave soccer. With these events come large crowds and long waits in traffic, which is why MTS is encouraging fans to take the easy way and ride transit to all the action. Additionally, on Monday, September 4, MTS will be running a modified Sunday service schedule in observance of Labor Day.

Getting to Petco Park - Friday game starts at 6:40 p.m., Saturday game starts at 5:40 p.m., Sunday game starts at 1:10 p.m. and Monday game starts at 3:40 p.m.

All three Trolley lines provide direct access to Petco Park. Fans can use the 12th & Imperial Transit Center or Gaslamp Quarter Station for convenient access to the game. 

Pre-Game:

  • All Trolley lines will run standard 15-minute service or better on Friday - Monday.

Post-Game:

  • Green Line: 15-minute service after all games in both directions (eastbound and westbound). Additional eastbound trips will operate as needed from Gaslamp Quarter after all games.
  • UC San Diego Blue Line: 15-minute service will be extended north to UTC after the games on Friday and Saturday. Additional southbound service will be added as needed. Normal service schedule for Sunday and Monday.
  • Orange Line: 30-minute service after all games (other than Sunday), with additional service as needed.

Getting to Aztecs vs Idaho State - Saturday, September 2 at 7:30 p.m.

Fans can access Snapdragon Stadium via the Stadium Station located directly on stadium grounds. Please note: The elevator at Stadium Station is temporarily out of service, please use the ramp or stairs while the elevator is being repaired.

Pre-Game:

  • Green Line: In addition to 15-minute service on the Green Line (eastbound and westbound), a shuttle from SDSU to Stadium Station will be in operation from 4:25 p.m. to 7:40 p.m. every 15 minutes or better. 
  •  The UC San Diego Blue Line and Orange Line will have regular Saturday service.

Post-Game:

  • Green Line: In addition to 15-minute regular service (eastbound and westbound), three service enhancements will be in operation:
    • Shuttle trips from Stadium Station to SDSU.
    • Two extra shuttles to provide eastbound or westbound service post-game.
    • Extended 15-minute frequencies on Green Line both directions.
  • UC San Diego Blue Line and Orange Line will have regular Saturday service. One extra northbound UC San Diego Blue Line trip will run to UTC, from Old Town, at 12:01 a.m.

Getting to San Diego Wave vs Houston Dash - Sunday, September 3 at 5:00 p.m.

Fans can access Snapdragon Stadium via the Stadium Station located directly on stadium grounds. Please note: The elevator at Stadium Station is temporarily out of service, please use the ramp or stairs while the elevator is being repaired.

Pre-Game:

  • All Trolley lines will run regular 15-minute Sunday service.

Post-Game:

  • Green Line: In addition to regular Sunday service, four shuttles will be available at Stadium Station to provide additional westbound service.
  • UC San Diego Blue Line and Orange Line will run regular Sunday service.

Important Game Day Tips:

In order to provide the best fan experience, attendees should follow these transit tips:

  • Park & Ride: Fans are encouraged to utilize MTS’ free transit station parking to park their cars and hop on the Trolley. Parking lots are available along all three Trolley lines. Transfers from the Orange and UC San Diego Blue Line Trolleys to the Green Line can be made downtown at 12th & Imperial Transit Center or Santa Fe Depot. 
  • Get Your Fare Early: To avoid long ticket lines pre-and post-game, fans should download the PRONTO app or use a PRONTO card and load $5 in advance of the game to cover a round-trip Adult fare ($3 for seniors with Senior PRONTO card). Fans must tap or scan their Trolley passes at a station validator before boarding; fares will be checked at the Stadium pre- and post-game.
  • Youth Ride Free: All youth 5 years old and under ride free all day any day. No pass required. Kids ages 6-18-year-old can ride MTS free with the Youth Opportunity Pass Program (must have a valid Youth PRONTO card or Youth app account).
