Trolley makes getting to Petco Park and Snapdragon Stadium easier than ever
San Diego – A big weekend of sports is ahead, with both the Padres and San Diego Wave FC hosting games. To keep fans moving and avoid game-day gridlock, the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is stepping up Trolley service to both Petco Park and Snapdragon Stadium.
Whether you’re cheering for a home run or a goal, getting there is half the fun — and the Trolley is the fastest, easiest way to reach the action. With more frequent service before and after each event, fans can skip traffic, avoid pricey parking, and ride straight to the stadium entrances.
Padres vs. Red Sox: Beat Traffic to Petco Park
The Padres return to Petco Park this Friday for a high-energy matchup against the Boston Red Sox, with the first pitch at 6:40 p.m. It’s the first time the two teams face off this season, and a big crowd is expected. Fans are encouraged to plan ahead, leave early, and let the Trolley be their ride.

San Diego Wave FC vs. Angel City FC: Ride to Snapdragon Stadium
On Saturday night, Snapdragon Stadium heats up as San Diego Wave FC takes on Angel City FC at 7 p.m. This exciting West Coast rivalry is expected to draw a big crowd, so fans are encouraged to take the Trolley and arrive early to soak in the matchday atmosphere.
Service for Saturday, Aug. 9
- Pre-event—Green Line: Regular Trolley service arriving at Stadium Station every 15 minutes or better, with additional trips added between 6 and 6:45 p.m. from Downtown San Diego to Stadium Station.
- Post-event—Green Line: Trolleys depart Stadium Station every 15 minutes or better in both directions, with additional trips added as needed until crowds diminish.
Easy Ways to Pay Your Fare
Contactless Payment: Fans now have the option to simply tap a credit card or other contactless payment options, such as a smartphone or smartwatch, on a station validator to pay for a one-way ride ($2.50, valid for two hours). This allows fans to bypass the ticket machine and speed up boarding times.
Kids ride free! Families going to the soccer match or baseball games can save money by taking MTS. During weekends, two children 12 and under ride for free with every paying adult. Youth ages 18 and under with a registered Youth PRONTO card or app account can ride free with the Youth Opportunity Pass.
PRONTO: Fans should download the PRONTO app in advance. Load at least $5 on your virtual card, which covers a round-trip fare for adult riders. All riders must tap or scan on validators to activate their pass or fare prior to boarding.
Every person needs their own payment option, you cannot buy fares for multiple people on the same account, card or payment method.
