Take the MTS Red Trolley for Aztecs’ “Red Out” Game

San Diego – The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is ramping up Trolley service for the San Diego State Aztecs vs. the San José State Spartans football matchup on Saturday, which has been designated as a “Red Out” game. All fans are encouraged to wear red to show their support. Why not take it a step further and ride that signature red Trolley to the game? It’s also the Homecoming game and the Aztecs have organized additional promotions.

MTS will increase Trolley service, ease boarding by offering the Compass Cloud mobile ticketing app, and provides plenty of free parking at Trolley stations to make the trip seamless. 

MTS services to the stadium - The Trolley’s Sycuan Green Line drops off fans at the doorstep to the stadium. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

  • Trains will depart all stations on all Trolley lines every 15 minutes most of the day
  • Increased service on the Sycuan Green Line begins at 4:15 p.m. between SDSU Transit Center and SDCCU Stadium
  • Increased service on the Sycuan Green Line begins at 6:20 p.m. between downtown and SDCCU Stadium
  • During and after the game, frequent service will operate in both directions*

*Additional trains will depart the stadium as needed to disperse the crowd. Some of these intermediate trains may only go as far as SDSU to the east and Old Town to the west. Please listen for destination announcements and notice train destination signs before boarding.

Sycuan Green Line Last Departure Information (from SDCCU Stadium) -

  • To Santee:       11:45pm (or 1 hour after the game, whichever is later)
  • To SDSU:          12:07am
  • To Downtown: 12:37am

Skip the Crowd with the Cloud! – MTS is allowing attendees who the Compass Cloud mobile ticketing app to bypass the Trolley line after the game. There’s a Compass Cloud express lane on the west side of the SDCCU Stadium Station ramp. Multiple Compass Cloud mobile tickets can be purchased on one smartphone too, making it easy for families traveling to the game together. For more information, visit the Compass Cloud webpage.

Finding the best place to park and ride the Trolley is also important! Prime park and ride locations for the game are:

  • Hazard Center: 1,500 free parking spots (Lower Level only; 6 minutes to stadium)
  • Old Town Transit Center: 412 free parking spots (15 minutes to stadium)
  • Grantville Trolley Station: 404 free parking spots (4 minutes to stadium)
  • El Cajon Transit Center: 469 free parking spots (23 minutes to stadium)
