Transit agency will provide ramped up Trolley service for Rodeo, Supercross and more
San Diego – This Marting Luther King Jr. Day weekend, San Diego will host several major events, and the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is boosting Trolley service to accommodate the high volume of attendees. Weekend events that are accessible by transit include the San Diego Rodeo, Monster Energy AMA Supercross, and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade.
Eventgoers can use public transit to avoid traffic and skip parking hassles, regardless of which event they attend. Additionally, attendees can use any of MTS' free Park & Ride lots, conveniently located throughout the Trolley network. A full list of Park & Ride lots is available on the MTS website.
- San Diego Rodeo – Jan. 16-18
Outriders has once again partnered with the San Diego Padres and C5 Rodeo to host San Diego's only rodeo in Petco Park. Attendees enjoying this three-day event can take advantage of more frequent Green Line Trolley service. Fans can find detailed service information on the MTS website. - Monster Energy AMA Supercross – Jan. 17
The world's elite off-road motorcycle riders take over Snapdragon Stadium as they compete head-to-head for the 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. The Trolley's Green Line provides direct and frequent service to Stadium Station. Service information can be found on the MTS Supercross webpage. - 44th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade – Jan. 18
MTS will be participating in the 44th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade on Harbor Drive. During this annual celebration, the transit agency will debut its newly wrapped bus commemorating Black History Month. Those looking to attend the parade or festival can take the UC San Diego Blue Line or Green Line to Santa Fe Depot or Little Italy / County Center Station, which are just a short walk from the parade route. MTS also reminds riders that there will be no Trolley service on the Orange Line between Courthouse and Massachusetts Avenue Station on Saturday, Jan. 17, and Sunday, Jan. 18, due to the Rail Ready Improvement Project. MTS will be running bus shuttles to serve all impacted stations. Riders using the Orange Line should plan ahead and take extra time. For service into downtown San Diego, Trolley riders can take the UC San Diego Blue Line or Green Line. Regular Orange Line Trolley service will resume on Monday, Jan. 19, for the morning commute. On Monday, Jan. 19, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, MTS services will have normal weekday operating schedules.
