MTS boosting Green Line Trolley service to make getting to Snapdragon Stadium fast and convenient

San Diego – Championship soccer arrives to Snapdragon Stadium this week, and the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is boosting Trolley service to carry enthusiastic fans to the pitch. On Feb. 3 at 8 p.m., round one of the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup will feature an epic matchup between hometown heroes San Diego FC and seven-time Liga MX champions Pumas UNAM.

With big crowds expected, MTS encourages soccer fans to avoid traffic jams and high parking costs by taking the Green Line Trolley. Fans can expect more frequent Trolley service at least two hours before the match, making MTS the easiest and most convenient way to arrive at Stadium Station, just steps away from the pitch. MTS will also offer additional Trolley service after the match to help fans get home quickly.

Full details about enhanced service for the Concacaf Champions Cup match can be found on the MTS website.

  • Green Line Service (Pre-event): Trolleys depart all stations every 15 minutes or better, with additional trips added between 5:40 and 7:25 p.m. from Downtown San Diego.
  • Green Line Service (Post-event): Trolleys depart Stadium Station every 15 minutes or better in both directions, with additional trips added as needed until 10:50 p.m. or until crowds diminish.

Easy Parking Options

Soccer fans can park at one of MTS' free Park & Ride lots throughout the Trolley system. The most convenient locations are:

  • Old Town Transit Center (Green Line and UC San Diego Blue Line North – 400+ free parking spots)
    • Overflow parking option available across the street at Caltrans District 11 – (4050 Taylor St., San Diego, CA, 92110 – 300+ additional free parking spots)
  • Morena/Linda Vista (Green Line – 200 spaces, most parking available off Friars Road)
  • Grossmont Transit Center (Green Line and Orange Line – 220 free parking spots)
  • El Cajon Transit Center (Green Line and Orange Line – 400+ free parking spots)
  • Amaya Drive (Green Line and Orange Line – 230 free parking spots)

Easy Ways to Pay Your Fare

Contactless Payment: Fans now have the option to simply tap a credit card or other contactless payment options, such as a smartphone or smartwatch, on a station validator to pay for a one-way ride ($2.50, valid for two hours). This allows fans to bypass the ticket machine and speed up boarding times.

PRONTO: Fans can download the PRONTO app in advance and load at least $5, which covers a round-trip fare for adult riders. All riders must tap or scan their pass on Trolley platform validators prior to boarding.

Every person needs their own payment option; you cannot buy fares for multiple people on the same account, card or payment method.
