Downtown Digital Transit Kiosk Network

The Downtown Digital Transit Kiosk Network will be an important identification source for key transit stations in downtown San Diego. It will host wayfinding information, community event details, timely public safety or emergency alerts, and public service announcements. It will also offer unique advertising and promotion opportunities for local businesses and others. The revenue MTS generates from advertising on the Downtown Digital Kiosk Network will assist with significant budget challenges the agency is experiencing as it will create a valuable new stream of non-fare revenue.

The Downtown Digital Transit Kiosk Network consist of units at three transit stations – 12th & Imperial Transit Center, Convention Center Trolley Station and America Plaza.

The overall structure height for each kiosk is approximately 20’-0” H/10’-6” W/ 1’-8” D. Each kiosk will have at least one digital display. The kiosks at Convention Center Trolley Station and America Plaza will have one digital screen. The kiosk at 12th & Imperial Transit Center will have two digital screens. The kiosks will operate between 5 a.m. and midnight every day, which is consistent with the general times of transit operations.

Construction on Downtown Digital Transit Kiosk Network will happen between April – July 2026. Construction will take place between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. primarily on weekdays. The project is to be completed in July 2026.
